Edible mushrooms of Guatemala

Guatemalan botanists have published excellent lists of edible mushrooms of the Highlands of Guatemala. Our goal is to find each species and do high-resolution photos.

It’s tough to get the right angle or lighting because the mushrooms change color or rot by the time we get them back to the photo studio, so we have to do whatever photographs as possible in the hotel where we happen to be staying near the market.

Here are three sample photos from the Kakchiquel Mayan market of San Juan Sacatepequez, Guatemala.
